Commission Meeting Dates
Each of the four proposed hotels listed in the hotel comparison chart will be the subject of Planning Commission hearings and Board of County Commissioner meetings, in the weeks and months ahead. The known dates are listed below.

Emailing County Leadership, Timing and Content
We will be asking every one of our supporters to send an email to County Leaders at the appropriate time, leading to the applicable upcoming hearings. We are all unified in our opposition to high-density hotels, however some of our supporters have more concerns about one or more of the four proposed hotel locations. However, we need everyone to address the first hearing for the Calle Miramar/Beach hotel. The decisions made there will set precedents for future hearings for all the proposed hotels.
To ensure your comments are publicly recorded by Planning Staff in their reporting package to the Planning Commissioners, you should send your emails to the Commissioners and County Staff no earlier that Friday, August 6th and no later than Tuesday August, 10th as it pertains to the Calle Miramar/Beach hotel and no earlier than Aug 20th and no later than Aug 24th for the Old Stickney Point hotel.
Prior to a Planning Commission hearing, emails should be addressed to Planning Commissioners, with copies to the appropriate Planning Staff and to Board of County Commissioners. Participation at Hearings
We encourage everyone to attend the hearings which will be held in the County Administration Building at 1660 Ringling. Planning Commission meetings start at 5:00 pm. Board of Commissioner meetings commence at 9:00 am.
The Coalition will have only a limited time to present to the commissions, and we plan to have our Coalition leadership, and our lawyers and consultants kick off the beginning of the presentations. We will welcome those who would also like to speak at the meeting, suggest that you confer with a Coalition representative at the Speaker Card Desk, 30 minutes before the meeting.
Donate to the Cause
The Siesta Key Coalition leadership has formed a 501(c)(4) organization to challenge the four proposed hotels. We have engaged the services of legal counsel, and other consultants, to help us prepare effectively for presentations to the County Planning Commission and the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC).
We anticipate that our expenses could reach the $150,000 range over the next year. None of the money contributed to this cause will be spent on anything except expenses incurred in the effort to prevent the overdevelopment of our island.
